Tanika Alexander, LCSW
Tanika is a seasoned Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 25 years of practice experience in the behavioral health field, 11 of which have been dedicated to servicing the military community. She has also provided professional supervision and consultation to students and other professionals seeking licensure in this field. She has worked with populations from ages 2 to 80, assisting individuals with life challenges ranging from general stress to serious mental illness. She has specialized training in mood and trauma disorders but also welcomes cases of general anxiety, relationship management and phase of life changes. Tanika utilizes a strength-based, client-centered approach in her therapy considering cultural and developmental factors that weigh in on current patterns, particularly those that may perpetuate “sinking thinking”. Her practice goal is to help you to live a meaningful and healthy life in the present and in therapy this starts with building therapeutic rapport and trust. The most significant aspect, motivation, starts with making contact. Tanika also believes in and strives toward a healthy work-life balance. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, up-cycling, watching movies and reading. One of her favorite quotes, “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us” embodies her approach to life and work. She welcomes the opportunity to help you discover what lies within you.
